Kinesiology

GOOD HEALTH COMES NATURALLY WITH KINESIOLOGY

HISTORY AND PRINCIPLES

Kinesiology (the study of human movement) focuses on prevention rather than cure. A chiropractor discovered that by applying a gentle pressure to muscles while isolated in specific positions it is possible to ascertain a state of health.

The muscle will weaken with applied pressure if there is a balance to be restored in a particular area of the body. The Chiropractor identified a direct relationship between certain organs/parts of the body and muscles.

Kinesiology is a holistic bodywork therapy that works on all aspects of health - physical, nutritional, mental, emotional and spiritual. The goal is to help remove stressors that may be preventing the person enjoying optimum health.

Kinesiology works on the basis that in order to have complete health, we must look at the whole person and not just individual symptoms. Factors that affect the physical body will not only affect othe rparts of the body but will have an effect on the mind and emotions too. For example, chronic back pain often leads to a person feeling depressed and excessive worrying causes changes in hormones levels in the body potentially leading to the development of a stomach ulcer. Behavioural problems in children, such as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) can be triggered by sensitivity to certain foods/food additives and lack of essential nutrients in the diet. In this situation it would be ineffective to try and treat the behavioural problem without first addressing the nutritional cause. Kinesiology is effective because it seeks to address the cause rather than 'paper over' the symptoms.

Often people exhibit a range of symptoms and indeed, people often show different symptoms even though theMuscle testing underlying cause is the same. How do we establish the cause and know how to put it right? A skilled kinesiology practitioner uses muscle testing to body energy to assess where stress may be causing imbalances in the energy flow and therefore the symptom being exhibited. Kinesiology makes use of the body's inherent intelligence to find the best correction to bring the person back into balance.

Kinesiology uses a very wide variety of tools to bring about a rebalance of the bodys energy. These tools include massage (of neurolymphatic reflex points), work on acupuncture points and the energy meridians, changes to diet, crystal therapy, flower remedies, colour therapy etc depending on what information is provided by the body.

How did kinesiology develop?

Kinesiology was developed by Dr George Goodheart in the 1960's. Through his research he was able to develop a system combining Western medical techniques with knowledge drawn from Chinese/Eastern health systems. Since its early development, kinesiology has grown rapidly and there are now several different branches of the therapy.

Is kinesiology safe?

Kinesiology is a very safe, non-invasive therapy which can enhance health in everyone from the elderly to young babies. It does not diagnose or treat disease in the conventional sense but instead asks the body to reveal what it needs in order to restore energy balance and a sense of well-being. This can bring about a marked improvement inhealth in a short space of time. As with all therapies, it is wise to check the qualifications and insurance provision of the therapist you are seeing.

Your treatment

Your consultation takes place in a bright and modern room and all treatments are professional friendly and confidential.

A medical history will be discussed and any relevant information recorded before the treatment begins. You remain fully clothed throughout the session.

Your treatment will identify precisely what is required to achieve your best health. You may need dietary or life-style changes and may also benefit from techniques such a stimulation of acupressure points. Other enhancements such as neuro linguistic programming, Bach remedies and nutritional supplements may also be recommended.

Modern living exposes our bodies to many stresses both emotional and physical. Many toxins are absorbed by us from pollution and cosmetics and in order to keep vitality and strong immune systems we need to support ourselves in the best way possible. A good diet will replenish essential vitamins and minerals and with the help of kinesiology this can be kept in check.

Emotional stresses are extremely important to reduce as much as possible as these will eventually put a physical strain on the body, kinesiology offers help with this using various stress release techniques and supports such as Bach remedies and supplements.

Food intolerance and Allergies
Food intolerance can manifest itself in a variety of symptoms, such as migraines, skin complaints, behavioural issues and many others.

If you think you have an intolerance or allergy, kinesiology can identify the offending food, E. no. additive, or item.

Sometimes the problem substance is best avoided for a time before carefully re-introducing it back into the diet (on a less frequent basis).

A replacement food source is suggested to ensure a good balanced diet is maintained. Often a problem substance is tolerated if certain vitamins, minerals or other supplements are added into the daily regime, this is all checked for.
